Water Supply System
Well
A well is a hole, usually drilled about 500 feet. It allows access to groundwater from pumping.
Treatment
Water can either be treated at a central location or treated as it enters the home.
Storage Reservoir
A storage reservoir stores backup water. It is used to ensure a constant supply of water even at peak times.
Gravity pulls water from the reservoir to homes. For this reason, it must be placed at a higher elevation than homes.
Rainwater Collection
Rainwater collection can be used to supplement water supply. It requires additional treatment for bacteria and microbes.
