Albums
The discography of American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, and numerous compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards for their work.
Before Toto was formed, members of the band did sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggsalbum in 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 following the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album, was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned the group, and they held auditions to find a replacement frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old demos and tapes to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well-loved by fans and Toto began the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as drummer on the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings as well as an interview with the group.

The tour was interrupted when Bobby Kimball, the lead vocalist, was arrested for drug charges. At the end of the tour, the band decided to let him go, and they hired singer/guitarist Joseph Williams to take his place. David Hungate, the drummer also quit the band after the tour. He was replaced by bassist Leland Sklar.
The TOTO Museum is an impressive futuristic building that has several exhibition rooms dedicated solely to telling the story of the company and its most innovative products. Toto has released a variety of music videos. The band has also released several compilation videos and DVDs. The most watched video by the group is “Africa” which has over one billion views on YouTube. The video is set in a library and shows the band performing in front of a pile of books about Africa.
The song “Africa” is from the album Toto IV. It was written by the band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge success in Europe and other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their fame after their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in America.
Following the release of the album, Toto went on a world tour. The group featured touring musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. In addition guitarist Steve Lukather released his second solo album, Luke.
In 1985, Fergie Frederiksen, Toto's drummer, left the group for personal reasons. The group held an audition to find the replacement for Frederiksen.
Prior to and during the time of Toto's formation, its members worked as session musicians for a diverse variety of artists.
